Thismakesitseemsimpletostructamusistrument,buttherearethreepligfactors.Theffrstisthatasuchasametalplatewillnotoawaveleslength,butalsoatwavelengthstwiceitswidthawillproduceothersoundsasittwists,too.

Theset—averyusefulplayers—isthatwhesuchasa12isstruck(orpluckedorbowed)itwillmoveiermionlybyitslengthbutalsobythepositiorikingpoipointhasnooptionbuttobeaheeringhaveobenodes,soifthestringisstrufromawillmakeafuhaian,andhehof160cTherewillbeanothersoundwithaian.Theseposidlyasthestring’svibrationshiftstowardsitsnaturalmodeofvibration,whichistohaveahedhencemakea240gthtoiveeflectisthatrepluellowersound,near-endplugaharsherone.
